Silt of the Carbon River - 24 x 36" Metal Print

While we were in Puyallup, Jack and I got out on a short drive to one of Mt. Rainier National Park’s gateways, this one by the Carbon River. Along the drive I noticed a great deal of sediment in the water and hoped to find a spot, an eddy or a sandbar, that had the gradient to reduce the sediment to silt, that fine talc that is the bi-product of erosion, current, water and light, particles so tiny that some are translucent. We were lucky to find a spot, framed and ornamented and with the right exposure I created this frame where light’s truth was displayed in a small miracle before my eyes, but not without a bit of polarized tuning.
